Reflexology is a non-invasive, holistic therapy treatment based on the ancient Chinese belief that there are areas and pressure points on the soles of the feet that correspond directly to specific parts of the body.
The principle is, that by using acupressure and massage techniques on the soles of the feet, it can release channels of energy in the body, help stimulate the body’s natural healing process and support the maintenance of good health and wellbeing. Following treatments, reflexology clients commonly experience feelings of deep relaxation, increased energy and improved sleep.
A typical reflexology session of one hour begins with the therapist taking a medical history and discussing any concerns or questions you may have about your treatment. You will then be required to remove footwear and lie on a warm, comfortable couch. The therapist will apply a massage oil or lotion to your feet, and using fingers and thumbs will use acupressure and massage techniques on specific areas of your feet and lower legs. Should your therapist identify areas of tension on your feet during the treatment, they may discuss this with you at the end of your session and offer suggestions for aftercare.
If you are feeling stressed, tired, lacking in energy, having trouble sleeping or generally feel you could do with some time to relax, a reflexology treatment or course of treatments, can be an effective way to help you unwind, de-stress and relax deeply.
